TSC TE210 is an entry-level desktop printer. It can perform many essential printing functions at a fraction of other brands’ costs. TSC TE210 is part of TSC’s 4-inch desktop series.
TSC TE210 comes with an outer ABS shell that protects the thermal transfer print mechanism. It has a minimal footprint, perfect for desktop or kiosk installations. The printer weighs only 2.5 kg (5.51 lbs), making it very light and portable.
TE210 is an ideal choice for low to medium-volume printing applications. The printer is perfect for printing identification labels, tags, receipts and barcodes. TE210 can print at a resolution of 203 dpi at a speed of 6ips.
Features
Design and Physical Overview
TSC TE210 has a sleek and modern design. The printer is made using ABS plastic. ABS or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a thermoplastic polymer known for its strength and durability. This protects the internal mechanism of the printer from any damage. The printer’s ABS plastic body is perfect for withstanding tough environments.
The printer does not have many external parts.
On the top of the printer, there is a LED indicator. This LED is colour coded and helps you to identify the printer status. You’ll also find one operational button. This button can be used to feed the media or to pause/resume a print job.
A paper exit chute can be found on the front of the printer. This is where printed labels or tags come out.
On the left side, you will find a top cover open tab. This is used to open the top cover of the printer. Underneath the top cover, you can access the printhead, platen roller and label roll.
The printer’s backside is where you will find all the connectivity ports. You will also find a power switch and power jack socket.
Performance
TSC TE210 comes with a 400 MHz 32-bit RISC processor.
RISC stands for Reduced Instruction Set Computing. It is a type of microprocessor designed to break down complex instructions into a small, highly-optimized set of instructions. This makes the instruction easier to understand and execute faster.
The 400 MHz 32-bit RISC processor of the printer is coupled with 64 MB SDRAM and 128 MB of flash memory. This gives the printer enough power to handle even the most strenuous printing jobs easily.
The flash storage memory can also be used to store fonts and graphics. However, we do not recommend using flash storage memory to store large amounts of data. This is because the data will fill the flash storage memory and eventually slow down the printer.
Printer Status Indicators
TSC TE210 is a compact thermal printer. Compactness sometimes comes with a trade-off; in this case, it is the lack of an LCD screen.
Thankfully, TSC has included an LED indicator and one operational button on the printer’s top.
The LED indicator is colour-coded and helps you to identify the printer’s status. The operational button can be used to feed the media or to pause/resume a print job.
The following are the different colours of the LED and what they mean:
- Solid Green: Power is on, and the printer is ready to be used.
- Flashing Green: The system is downloading data, or the printer is paused.
- Amber: The system is clearing data.
- Solid Red: The printer head is open, or there is a cutter error.
- Flashing Red: Printing errors such as paper empty, paper jam, ribbon empty, or memory error
Supports TSC Console
TSC Console is the company’s exclusive management software. With the help of this software system, you can remotely control a whole fleet of TSC printers from a single interface. TSC Console is very user-friendly and has a straightforward operator interface.
TSC Console allows you to alter print settings, view usage stats, update firmware, download templates and configure network settings on multiple TSC printers simultaneously. This helps you save a ton of time and effort and makes managing lots of printers incredibly simple.

Printing Modes
TSC TE210 can print in two different modes – Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer
In Direct Thermal mode, the heat generated by the printhead is used to blacken the heat-sensitive media. This blackened media then becomes your label. This printing mode is best suited for short-term labelling applications like boarding passes.
In Thermal transfer mode, the heat generated by the printhead is used to melt the wax or resin-based ribbon. This melted ribbon then transfers the ink onto the label. This printing mode is best suited to print high-quality labels that need to withstand harsh conditions such as direct sunlight.
Print Resolution and Efficiency
TSC TE210 can print at a maximum print resolution of 203 dpi (8 dots/mm) at a speed of 6ips (152.4 mm/s). The printer has a maximum print length of 25400 mm (1000 inches) and can print labels up to 108 mm (4.25 inches) wide.
The print speed and the print resolution are not the best in the thermal label printer industry. However, 203 dpi is sufficient for most barcoding and labelling print applications.
TE210 comes with a 127 mm (5 inches) OD internal media supply with an optional external media holder. This external media holder supports 214 mm (8.4 inches) OD label rolls on a 76.2 mm (3 inches) core.
Moreover, TSC’s TE printer series allows users to purchase and integrate a print mechanism separately. This one-of-a-kind print mechanism is suitable for kiosk applications, small label applicators, two-colour on-demand printing, and two-sided printing.
Energy Star Certified
TSC TE210 is an Energy Star 2.0 certified printer. This means it meets the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency or the US Department of Energy.
Energy Star-certified printers use less energy than standard models. This helps in saving money on electricity bills and reducing carbon footprint.

TSC TE210 allows you to rotate fonts and barcodes up to 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. This feature gives you the flexibility to print labels in any orientation.
Print Command Language
TE210 uses TSPL-EZD as the default print command language. TSPL-EZD is a Windows-based printer control language developed by TSC. This firmware emulates TPLE, TPLZ, and TPLD languages using free Windows drivers. It also supports label design software which can be downloaded from the Internet.
Additionally, TSPL-EZD is compatible with standard industrial emulations, including Datamax, Eltron, Line Mode, and Zebra languages. It also works with Oracle, Unix, AS/400, Windows, and Stand Alone.

Warranty
TSC offers a limited warranty for the TE210 desktop thermal printer. Not only does this warranty cover the printer, but also the printhead and platen.
The printer itself is covered for two years from the date of purchase. Please keep in mind that the warranty only covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover damages caused by external factors such as water or dust.
The warranty for the printhead is 1 million inches (25 km) of printing or one year from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.
The platen is covered for 2 million inches (50 km) of printing or one year from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.
TSC also offers an extended warranty for an additional cost.
